--1) Useful items / abilities
Items :
White flute
Smoke Ball

Abilities :
Illuminate : Staryu, Starmie, Volbeat
The other abilities have no effect outside of battle.

--2) Internal battery and soft resets

In RSE, the cartridges contain an internal battery which allows the game to calculate the date and time.
Thus, when launching the game, the console uses the date to calculate a value used for generating the Pokemon.
If the battery has run dry, the date is locked (1st of January 2000) and for every reset, the console uses this date to generate the Pokemon.
Because the algorithm who generates Pokemon (and other values) is time-based on 3rd gen (every 1/60th of second (named frame) = 1 calculation = 1 new Pokemon) when the battery is dry, the same Pokemon can be easily re-encountered just after launching the game, when soft resetting a Pokemon for example.

Depending of the Trainer Data (ID and Secret ID), these "early frames" will give lots of Shinies (with the exact same caracteristics) when soft resetting, or won't give any one of them.
The best option is to replace the internal battery, which restarts the calculation of the date.

For the starters, it is also possible to soft reset them by making 70-100 soft resets and by starting a new game file ; because 1 frame is a really short period, which means that on 100 SRs, differents starters will be chosen (with the dry battery), and because the frames cannot be changed, the ID and SID are changed, to give the player chances to find a Shiny. (with this method, encountering a Shiny Poochyena means that a Shiny frame is accessible when SR'ing. For the Starters, this is aproximately 2 seconds later than the try where the Shiny Poochyena appeared).

--3) Hoenn Safari Zone
The best Safari Zone in terms of chances to catch wild Pokemon, thanks to the Pokblocks.

When encountering a Pokemon in the Safari Zone, its catch rate is converted into an integar between 0 and 20 (0->0 and 255->20, so the formula is ((Catch rate/255*20)rounded down)).
However, this value cannot be less than 3 (so if Mewtwo was in Safari Zone, its catch rate here would be 3/20*255=38.25)

The same calculation is done with the flee rate (0->0%, and 20->100% chances to flee), with a minimal value of 1->5%
For every Pokemon, the flee rate is set to 3 in RSE.

Thus, the catch rate and flee rate can be easily increased or decreased when going near of throwing a Pokblock.

Going Near :
Number of tries / Catch Rate / Flee Rate
1 / +3 / +4
2 / +2 / +4
3 and more / +1 / +4

Throwing Pokbloc :
-The Pokmon is enthralled
Number of tries / Catch Rate / Flee Rate
1 / +0 / -5
2 / +0 / -3
3 and more / +0 / -2

-The Pokmon is curious
Number of tries / Catch Rate / Flee Rate
1 / +0 / -3
2 / +0 / -2
3 and more / +0 / -1

-The Pokmon ignores the Pokblock
No change

Because a flee rate change has a greater incidence than a catch rate one, the best method is to throw a single Pokblock during the first turn, and try catching the Pokmon.

A Pokmon likes a Pokblock dpending on its nature.
To be sure that it won't ignore the Pokbloc, Pokblock feeders were made.
If a Pokblock feeder is used, during 100 steps, and within a 5 step range away from it, 80% of the wild Pokmon will be enthralled by the Pokblock put in the feeder.
In total, with a single-flavoured Pokblock, % of the Wild Pokmon won't ignore the Pokblock.

Here are the chances of capture for every Pokmon in RS Safari Zone.

--4) Minor Ruby/Saphire differences
For Shinyhunting, two differences present on Ruby are useful.

---4.1) Roaming Latios
The TV screen that generates Latios won't fade if watched, which means that it will always be possible to hunt this Pokmon (every time the show is watched, the Latios is changed, even if it wasn't killed).

Also, they are easy to find roamers, because they cannot cover the entire Hoenn Map, but only the Eastern Part (Mauville being the best zone to hunt them, with 4 routes where the roamer can go).

Method to hunt Lati@s :
-If encountered before (by a trade, or in Ruby with the trick mentioned before)
Needed :
Surf, Fly, Max Repel (With a Lv 30-40 Pkmn), Iluminate, a Pokmon with Mean Look / ..

Use your Max Repel.
Save below the TV Screen.
Watch it, then go to Mauville.
Go down to Route 110.
Look in the Pokdex if Lati@s has a "good location" (classing the Pokedex will render Lati@s quicker to find).
If not, go in the house who links the Cycling road, and go out.
Re-check Lati@s location.
Repeat the 2 precedent steps until Lati@s hasn't a "good location".

When Lati@s will be on the Route where the player is, go catch it, Repel effects shouldn't have faded, and with a Lv 30-40 Pokmon Repelling, only Lati@s will be encountered.

-"good location" meaning :
Going in and out of the house replaces randomly Lati@s on the map, while changing Routes (without Teleport or Fly) makes it go to a adjacent Route (it also has a little chance to replace it randomly).
Which means that if Lati@s is near Mauville (Routes 110,111,117,118 for the closer), going in the Route where it is (which means entering into Mauville City, then going into the route = 2 changes of maps) gives good chances of encountering it.

The roamer can also play a little tag game around Mauville City, but not for a long time generally.
So, if Lati@s is on Routes 110, 111, 117 or 118, one can go and try encountering it with high chances of succeeding.

Once it's Shiny, make a save file, and take your time for th catching phase.
To catch Lati@s, use Mean Look / .. and weaken it, then throw balls at it.
Because you saved, it can be killed without any problem.
But for a single segmented battle, Smeargle is the best option, with Spore and Trick + Leftovers (to avoid Struggle KO).

-If Lati@s isn't in the Pokdex :
Go to the South of Route 110, and search it there.
The beginning of the cycling road allows you to enter a house and keep your bike.
So use a Lv 20-40 Repel and put Illuminate in your first party slot in order to repel any basic Pokemon, and in order to encounter the roamer quickly if he's on the Route.
The principle is to step in grass (15-20 steps), then go into the house, leave, and repeat it until you find your roamer.

This is the quickest method to hunt a roamer without having him in the Pokedex. It seems longer than the other because you are checking the presence of the roamer by walking onto the grass, which isn't like seeing this information in the Pokedex.

---4.3) Castform

Contrary to Emerald, Castform cannot be sent to the PC.
To reset it at will, Team Aqua/Magma has to be defeated at the Meteo Center with a full team.
The scientist will then wait for the Pokmon delivery.

--5) Infinite battle
In 1st,2nd and 3rd gen, the recoil damage caused by Struggle depends on the damages dealt by the Pokmon.

The easiest option to set an infinite battle is Trick + Leftovers.
You can add .., Growl, or Battle items to decrease damages, and also a Status, but the Shiny won't be able to kill itself.

Roots.. of Stick Hold deals with Roar or Whirlwind.
Damp deals with Selfdestruct and Explosion.
Taunt deals with Teleport. (duration of 2 turns in 3rd gen)
Shedinja / Ghost type Pokmon deals with recoil damaging moves.
Skill Swap + Tempo Perso deals with .. (for Rayquaza especially).
